JellyBean’s Movie Review - Juno & Pieces of April

Okay let me explain… First off - Netflix? Love it! It’s so convenient and they don’t expect me to be prompt. Hah! There is nothing better than checking your mail & having a movie delivered, especially when your mailbox is as close as mine. :p So this is what I do when I’m just not in the mood for the world - I watch movies. Today was one of those days… So I tuned out the world, curled up on the couch & got lost in the storyline.

Okay let me start with “Juno”… it made me cry. Yup! Happy tears though. I was thinking I’d do a whole review about the movie telling you the plot etc… but honestly, if you haven’t seen it, I really don’t want to ruin it for you, so I’ll give you the generic summary.

Juno - Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, an offbeat young (16 year old Juno) woman makes an unusual decision regarding her unborn child.

I loved loved loved this movie. I received it about a week ago and have watched it 3 times since. I seriously didn’t want to return it. I think Juno is an awesome character who beats to her own drummer, not giving a shit as to what others think. She’s witty, sarcastic & I love the way her attitude is delivered. As for the “father” of her baby, boyfriend, as well as best-friend, Bleeker… well he’s a dork, but completely loveable. Jason Bateman is in this movie and though he was on my “most fuckable” list back in high school, he quickly fell off when I realized he’s old now. :p

Next up is “Pieces of April”… This was recommended to me by a co-worker, which doesn’t usually turn out well. I was very pleasantly surprised and again full of tears - sad sad ones and sad happy ones.

Pieces of April - A wayward daughter invites her dying mother and the rest of her estranged family to her apartment for Thanksgiving dinner.

I’m not sure if this is considered an independent film because I’m not that much of a movie geek, however the filming style sorta felt like it could be one. It’s kinda confusing in the beginning but as soon as you are 30 minutes into it, it starts making a lot of sense. I recommend this one for anyone who has felt like a fuck up and has tried to make up for it in one way or another. It’s a very touching story with some great comic relief in just the right places.

Both movies caused me to giggle, a lot. However they both share touching moments that made this sap cry like an idiot.

In other RL news…

My old neighbor that lived above me the full 4 months that I’ve been here, moved last week. I liked him. He was dating the girl that lives directly across from me. Anyways, last I heard, they were engaged & then BOOM! Not. Sooooo, two new people moved in over the weekend. Other than saying “hello” in passing, I know nothing about them. I was thinking they were just roommates because they didn’t seem all cuddly.

As of tonight - I now know… they’re tote love bunnies and I heard them bumping uglies as I came home from Hawks’ house. At first I thought it sounded like a porn video, but newp, I heard her either fall off the couch or they loudly switched positions before the moaning got louder. Hah! I almost laughed outloud as I unlocked my door & came in.

How will our next “hello” in passing go? Hahaha!

Red vs. Blue

Happy Days are here again… My beloved Rooster Teeth has brought back RvB with a new series… Reconstruction! Huzzah!

My divorce was my hardest breakup, not because I didn’t want it but because it has been hella hard on my kids. I’m finally happy, I wish he was too but I know my kids may not see the reasons now but will tote understand in the future.
